San Francisco 2017-2018
As soon as I arrived in the Bar Area in August 2017, I took a day trip to San Francisco to meet Pralaksha, who came to visit from Seattle. We had dim-sum, walked around Chinatown, and hiked up to Coit tower (but didn't go up).
During spring break in April 2018, Nathaniel came to San Francisco for a conference and stayed with me for a couple of days. We also went to eat dim-sum in Chinatown and took a very nice hike at Lands End on a cloudy day.
In June 2018, Nat flew here for a conference at Stanford and stayed with me for a couple nights. One day, Filip, Nat, and other Berkeley physics grads went to Twin Peaks to view the city at dusk.
The following week, I took Nat to have dim-sum at Chinatown and spent the rest of the afternoon under the sun in Golden Gate Park. That night, we were joined by Hannah to see a concert by Daniil Trifonov, who played Rachmaninoff piano concerto No.3, one of my favourite.
That same weekend, Filip, Nat, and I decided to cycle across the Golden Gate Bridge. It happened to be Pride Day, so the BART was filled with people in bizarre clothing as I tried to squeeze in my bicycle. Since the streets were closed off for the parade, I had to cycle from Market Street to Lands End through Golden Gate Park, over many steep hills. Going over the Bridge, I was blown off of my bicycle by the turbulent wind every time I went past one of the steel towers. Due to poor planning, I ended up cycling across the Golden Gate Park four times.
