Battery Spencer, Lands End, and Twin Peaks

20181011

On the first day of Akshat's visit, I decided to show him all the best views of San Francisco and the Pacific Ocean. We started at Battery Spencer, an old military battery just north of the Golden Gate. A short walk takes you to a direct postcard view of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Our next stop was Lands End, on the northwestern shore of San Francisco, south of the Golden Gate. The hour-long shady trail offers yet another view of the Bridge from afar. We stopped by the nearby China Beach, which was historically associated with temporary camps of Chinese migrant workers.

With no time to waste, we completed the trail and headed straight to Twin Peaks, the highest point in San Francisco. We could see not only an expansive birds-eye view of the whole city, but also an unobstructed sunset over the Pacific Ocean. As the shadow of the hill fell onto the city, I sat motionlessly, capturing a stunning time lapse of the city at dusk.
